Death Star Radio

With my pass collected I went for a quick walk to find where the R2 Builders room was located.  On the way who do I run into but the Crew from the 501st Belgian Garrison.  They were in the process of putting together the impressive AT-AT.  So after a quick chat I stuck around to give them a hand.

And sure enough who walks past as it’s just being finished off….

Typical after most of the work is done.  They were even kind enough for me to add one of my signs to the back of the AT-AT and left it there for the whole con.

It wasn’t long before they brought out the good beer and everyone relaxed.  They were also responsible for the Jabba set where I ran into another Droid Builder and 501st member.

After the usual group shot I headed out of the convention centre.  It was heading for 8pm so time to find some food and think about getting some sleep before tomorrow’s assault

Well I know this is late being posted but what are you gonna do.  From the second I hit the ground it didn’t stop.

Arriving in LAX was as interesting as usual.  The line to get through Immigration was foolish and I spent over two hours waiting to get to one of the handful of Immigration officers who asked me what I was visiting the States for.  When I told her a Star Wars Convention one of the other Immigration officers said he was flying out the next day for it.  I was waved through with her rolling her eyes.

While waiting in LAX for the flight to Orlando who do I run into but Jay.  Had a great chat with him and got a look at his helmet from Episode II.

The flight to Orlando was …. well….it was a flight.  But there was a impressive lightning show out the window.  I tried to take a video of it but it didn’t turn out too well.  I’ll upload it later if all goes well.

Once in Orlando and getting hit by the wall of heat and humidity as I walked out of the airport.  Once in the hotel and had a couple of cups of coffee I caught up with the SCG boys Dyl and Dave and Dave was kind enough to run me around to a few places (wallmart and to find the nearest postoffice) Dyl was also on the hunt for some paint for his armour to finish it off.

We also found and illusive Toys R Us….heheheh

Once this was done we headed back to the hotel and I want to pick up my Convention pass but that’s for another post. . .

Well, I fly out tomorrow.

I think I have everything I need to worry about packed.  Clothes, camera, camera charger, etc…

I’ve also packed a few other goodies.  First is my 501st TAG trading cards.  Anyone who wants one can find me during the con.

Also have printed up a stack of TheForce.Net / Jedi Council Forums lanyard badges.  I’ll be dropping these off at the FanForce table.  Anyone who wants one can stop by and grab it.  Once they’re gone they’re gone.

And as a last little thing…..  A R2 Stamp.  Track me down to get one.

I’ll be hiding in the R2 Builders room most of the time so I should be easy enough to track down.

Almost there…..

This was thrown together on a bit of a whim.  Some friends and I were discussing Droid on Board signs and I pushed ahead and had some made up.  Most went up to Sydney for distribution.  I’ve posted a few to some friends in the States who will be driving to Celebration V with their droids.  In some cases they’re taking a trailer and picking up other droids along the way.
